| Name: | Liam Evans |
|---|
Name: Liam Evans.
Age: 16.
House: Gryffindor.
Year: Sixth.
Physical Description:
Liam is a fit, strapping boy. At roughly 5'10", now that he's reached his sixteenth year, he's finally starting to fill out his frame. At the moment he could be described as lean, but tough, and he hopes that the hours he will spend on the quidditch pitch this coming year will turn him from a boy into a man. His ginger hair is on the longish side, and the straight locks have a tendency to fall into his sharp green eyes. The splash of freckles across his nose gives his face an impish quality, a trait only highlighted by the aforementioned emerald eyes. He hates the 'impish' look, preferring the phrase 'strong' or 'manly', and plans to achieve such a look by one day growing a beard. He does own a pair of glasses, yes, but he only wears them in secret, when studying and hidden behind stacks of books in the library. Although Liam does not care much for muggle or wizard fashion, he does manage to wear clean robes every day and none of his muggle clothes have holes in them.
Personality:
With an easy smile and addictive laugh, Liam makes friends easily with nearly everyone. Being a big brother, he has an internal need to look out for the kids in the years below him, which makes him 'groovy' in their eyes. He's naturally athletic which is why his mates roped him into trying out for the quidditch team in his third year. His fellow teammates admire his steady confidence and unselfish play on the pitch; he may not score as often as the other chasers, but they will attribute nearly every goal they have scored to a clean pass or ingenious setup for which Liam was responsible. He is also naturally smart and attentive, picking up on things that many others miss. In short, Liam is nearly perfect, except that he does not want to be. He knows that he has a lot of admirable qualities, but what he cares about most is friendship and courage. He looks out for the younger students because he remembers what it was like to be small and trod upon, not because he wants to be admired. He only joined the quidditch team because he wanted to be with his friends more often and enjoy what they enjoyed. And he cannot help being smart. Liam is overall just a good guy trying to do good. Nothing gets to him more than injustice, and sometimes his sense of fair play can be a detriment to him. He will stick with his mates regardless of the situation, but if his friends were the ones in the wrong, he will berate them in private until they ask him if he ever gets dizzy standing on his high moral ground. He is no stranger to apologies. Because he holds himself to high standards, the pressure that he places on himself to be as close to perfect as humanly possible wears on him. But, because of who he is, he will never stop trying.
History:
Born to muggles, Liam had no idea that he was a wizard until the letter arrived from Hogwarts, and even then he had a hard time believing that this was for real and not a joke that one of the neighborhood kids decided to pull on him. He never expected anything extraordinary to happen in his life. The plan was for him to go to school, get good marks, maybe become a teacher and laze about London (or maybe Bristol or Exeter), enjoying life and making a small difference in the world. Magic just seemed to enhance that plan tenfold. His parents were thrilled by the idea. Liam had always been their pride and joy, a glorious son to carry on the Evans name. Petunia, Liam's little sister, was happy to see her brother leave, as he was at that stage in his life where he considered his little sister to be just a big toy for him to torment. When he came home for winter break, Petunia noticed a sharp change in him. A few months of torment by the students in the year above him had taught Liam some patience and understanding, lessons he employed when dealing with his sister from that day on. Although they are not the best of friends, they are as close as two normal, teenage siblings can be.
